ROLLING HILLS WATER SERVICE

OVERVIEW

Due to space, terrain, and cultural limitations, we had to use shortened dipole cable extensions with our Aqua Gem system. Hydro was able to acquire accurate hydrogeophysical survey data in a smaller than average area while leaving no footprint behind.

MAIN CHALLENGE

This job was particularly unique due to the job site being located in close proximity to homes, utilities, and asphalt roads. With already limited access to our survey area, Hydro also had to be mindful of the high-traffic within the area. Unable to use our standard length cables we had to find a solution that was just as accurate while also being agile enough to maneuver in such limited space.

HYDRO’S SOLUTION

Hydro was able to successfully conduct a hydrogeophysical survey by adjusting our survey pattern and dipole layout to the existing cultural environment. Data was then acquired in an area with our Aqua Gem system even with shorter dipoles. We were able to set up the system to acquire only one site at a time in order to accomplish the survey.

ADVANTAGE

We normally extend cables outward 82 feet in four directions from our analog front end unit while acquiring data at more than one site at a time. In this urban area, we needed to shorten our dipoles in order to obtain data in a smaller area than normal. With the use of our Aqua Gem system and shortened dipoles we were able to capture accurate data and leave behind no footprint, where other types of geophysics would have not been successful.
