ICL GROUP WELL REHABILITATION
ICL GROUP WELL REHABILITATION
OVERVIEW
Hydro Resources was chosen to pull, set, and rehab ICL Group’s water wells. Given a very strict deadline, we were able to complete the process with minimal downtime using our state of the art high pressure jetting system. The rehabilitation process was a success with a significant increase in specific capacity.
MAIN CHALLENGE
This plant can only be shut down for 5 days, once a year. Hydro’s processes can take up to 5 days to complete. Our timeline was extremely rigid with no room for error. We had to be extremely prompt with our timing and could not have any mistakes that would prolong the project.
HYDRO’S SOLUTION
Two days were needed for pulling and setting the pump, leaving only 3 days to rehab. We rehabilitated two wells in one day, followed by video surveying the next day. High pressure jetting cleaned the well quickly and efficiently with almost no down time of the plant. Before and after downhole video surveys were performed, and high-speed bailing followed the jetting to remove loosened scale and debris. Traditional chemical rehabilitation would have taken 5 to 7 days to complete. The cost was a fraction of what chemical treatment would have been and did not require neutralization and disposal of harsh chemicals.
ADVANTAGE
Hydro Resources’ high-pressure jetting rehabilitation helped our client realize a 50% increase in specific capacity (gallons per minute/foot of drawdown) in one of the wells, and a 75% increase in specific capacity in the other well. These exceptional results have given our client the confidence to include our jetting process in future well rehabilitation projects.
